Literacy week 3 Term 4 2017

This week for our numeracy we were finding out about fossils. We did a drawing about what we knew about fossils first and then we read some stuff and did another presentation on what we learnt.   This is
my KVL which shows my prior knowledge of fossils.  As you can see I didn't know much at the start.

For literacy this week we carried on with our camp reflection. I haven't quite finished it yet.

This week we learn't a different type of poem. It was really fun and easy. The point was to make them funny and try to make them make a little bit of sense.

This week for literacy we created a drawing about shanty town. Me and my buddy only had one day to do it. WALT: write a clear and detailed introduction using the 5 W's.

This week for literacy we were focusing on goal setting. For literacy we had to do two writing goals and two reading goals.

For literacy we also had to choose a topic to write facts about . I chose to write about the Wahine disaster because I know a tiny bit about it.

This week for literacy we chose an activity. My activity was to write Christmas codes.  I enjoyed it and I thought it would be cool to write things about Christmas. See if you can guess mine Or make some up yourself.

This week for literacy we did some Christmas activities. There were two to choose from one was a activity where you have to write if you would be on Santa's naughty or nice list and you had to say why. The other one was to make a Christmas tree song. In the end I had enough time to do both. Here are mine.

This week for writing we did a Earthquake recount because of the recent earthquakes that have been happening recently. It was quite hard to do a long one because I slept through it.



This week for word work I chose to do fancy letters again because I like do it.


This week for reading our task was to read about wisdom teeth and then put the information in a Explanation burger.

This week for word work my activity was to write my words in dots.  I found a way to do that easily. Here is my word work.

W.A.L.T write an acrostic poem.

We tried to do an acrostic poem about a mythical creature. I found doing this fun but also quite hard because some letters were not easy. 

Reading 

W.A.L.T Know what the Author purpose is.

This week for reading we had to make up 3 articles under entertain, persuade and inform. I like doing this because you could write about the All blacks for inform. 

Literacy reflection

This week for literacy we were practicing explanation writing for a test that is coming up. The topic to write about was a special place for your family. I chose Colingwood wich is a place at the top of the south Island. This is the beginning of my special place.

Word Work refletion

This week for word work we chose a card that had an activity that we do with our spelling words. Mine was to type my spelling words in fancy letters. I did mine on a goggle drawing.

This week for reading we were showing example of literacy elements and we were showing what we have learn't over the term.

Literacy week 8 term 3

This week we looked up a world wonder.  I have heard  only a little about the Pyramids of Giza so I chose to do them. Here is what I learn't. We also went on earth picker. Earth picker is this thing where you go on google maps to try recognize a place. That website makes your geography better. Here is the link to earth picker.

Literacy term 3 week 6

This week for reading we read a bit out of a school journal. The book we read was called wild life it was a book about monkeys that fake being rare so they can get out of the jungle. This is the video of the book.

This week for writing we were writing about a thing that you have in your house. We had to have an introduction that tells you the meaning of your thing and the use of your thing. I chose a toasty machine.
