Japan

Recently every Tuesday I have gone to a Japanese class. We have learn't some basic word and facts about japan. I made a drawing to show two main tourist attractions.

Wearable arts

Recently we have started wearable arts. Wearable arts is a project where you have a theme and have to create a piece of wearable arts. Our theme is the future with a West Coast flavour. 

At the moment we are making small versions of our Idea and finding ways to make it interesting. 

My group might do something about whitebait and something. 

I am looking forward to seeing the final piece of art. 

Westa - Maths

This week 2 maths teams from my school (Grey Main) played against other West Coast teams. Last year it was hosted in Hokitika and we finished  1st equal. This year It was hosted at Grey Main and we came 3rd. We go to Canta Maths which is in Christchurch because we beat the other Grey Main team. I went to Canta maths and it was fun but hard. 

I am looking forward to going in a couple of weeks. 

The finals

This weekend I played and captained the Blaketown under 14 rugby team from fist five to beat Marist in the final. We played in very cold, windy and wet conditions.

It is my first year in the grade which means I am a younger player in the team.

We got of to a good start by applying lot of pressure ant trapping them in their own corner with the wind against them.  We go rewarded by the continuous pressure scoring two converted trys in a row. Then Marist bounced back and scored one of their own. I scored a try halfway through the first half. At halftime we were leading by 19 points. Marist in the second half with the wind behind made a slight comeback. The final score was 50 - 36 to us. 

After the game I made a speech to describe the game thank Marist and say how leading up to the game we tied both games. I also thanked the supporters, managers and our coach.

After the speechers we went and had a 25 minute hot shower to warm up.

I am so happy we won.

Cricket

This week we have been practising and preparing for a cricket tournament on the West Coast. If we win we will go to play Buller and if we win that we will go to Christchurch. The tournament was supposed to be yesterday but it has been post-boned to Monday. 

I am number 3 Batsman and Opening bowler. I like bowling because it is satisfying to take wickets.  

Shapes

Today we looked at the differences and similarities between Trapezium, Parallelogram, Rhombus and Quadrilateral. Here is what I found out.

Maths week 4

This is my maths for this week. We were looking at short and long division. I enjoyed doing it. 

CV for PREP

Free writing

For free writing I decided to do it on the game my awesome tennis coach taught me. He taught me how to play coin rugby, when I got to school a taught my friends how to play and we made a presentation about it.

Term 1 week 4 electronics session

This week on Wednesday we had an electronics session with Andrew. We learnt about positive and negative sides of a battery. We also did some things with led's. In this photo I am testing my strength.

Friday test

This week I got a fast typing speed but not accurate. And for my kiwi kids news quiz I go 90 percent accurate.

This week for word work my activity was to write my words in dots.  I found a way to do that easily. Here is my word work.

Writing

W.A.L.T write an acrostic poem.

We tried to do an acrostic poem about a mythical creature. I found doing this fun but also quite hard because some letters were not easy. 

Reading 

W.A.L.T Know what the Author purpose is.

This week for reading we had to make up 3 articles under entertain, persuade and inform. I like doing this because you could write about the All blacks for inform.

This week we had to write a news paper article based on the part of the story when Lurvy discovered the writing on the web. I found it hard to make it sound like a news paper artical. Here is my writing.

26 5 2016

Early this morning a miracle occurred just outside of town in Mr Zuckerman's barn. Mr Zuckerman said that It was a cold and frosty morning in the barn when his worker Lurvy came into the barn with the slops.He couldn’t help but see a word in the centre of the web he took a closer look and saw that it there was the words SOME PIG he was sure that it wasn’t possible for there to be words in a web so he called Mr Zuckerman. Soon people were coming from all over the place to see the miracle that had occurred in Mr Zuckerman's barn.

“ I couldn’t believe it when I saw it he said it was almost like the spider had super powers” said Lurvy Mr Zuckerman's worker.

“I don’t think I’m having that pig for Christmas” said Mr Zuckerman.

Mr Zuckerman’s also said that it was just thought to be a common house spider.

CROSS COUNTRY

On Wednesday I went to cross country the track was very muddy and part of it was narrow. you had to sprint at the start to be in the narrow bit first. I came 2nd witch means I go to Canterbury to race. The person who bet me in cross country came from Caramea.
